iPads, the new ID?

Martin Reisch, a Canadian man, was able to cross over to the US even after he forgot his passport by showing the official a scaned image of his passport on his iPad. He told the official that he was going to Vermont to give Christmas presents.

Reisch told the press that he knew the official had made an exception, ‘I thought I’d at least give it try.’ He also said that the drivers licence and the true story he told helped him cross the border to deliver his presents.

He then managed to re-enter to Canada on the same day. Reisch said that he thinks scanned identification will become normal in the near or distant future. ‘I see the future as 100% being able to cross with your identity on a digital device – it’s just a matter of time.’
